Extract from the
Essene Gospel of Peace

Transcribed from the Dead Sea Scrolls. These scrolls contained Books of the bible that were not included in the format we generally received.  The Essenes are well known to be the community that Jesus was born into.

This is a quote from part of that translated text.

"Kill neither men nor beast, nor yet the food which goes into your mouth. For if you eat living food, the same will quicken you, but if you kill your food, the dead food will kill you also.

For life comes only from life, and from death comes always death. For everything which kills your foods, kills your bodies also. And everything, which kills your bodies, kills your souls also. And your bodies become what you are. Even as your spirits, likewise, become what your thoughts are.

Therefore, eat not anything, which fire or frost, or water has destroyed. For burned, frozen and rotted foods will eventually burn, freeze and rot your body also.

Be not like the foolish husbandman who sowed in his ground cooked, and frozen, and rotted seeds. And the autumn came, and his fields bore nothing. And great was his distress.

But be like that husbandman who sowed in his field living seed, and whose fields bore living ears of wheat, paying a hundredfold for the seeds that he has planted.

For I tell you truly, live only by the fire of life, and prepare not your foods with the fire of death, which kills your foods, your bodies and your soul's also".

In a  nutshell

The raw or living food vegan diet & lifestyle successfully contributes not only to optimal health creation, but also promotes animal welfare and sound ecology, towards a sustainable and compassionate future.

A raw foods diet is made up of fresh, whole, unrefined, living, plant-based foods: fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, nuts, and seeds, which are consumed in their natural state, without cooking or steaming. People who adopt this diet are often referred to as "raw fooders" or "raw vegans."

The raw diet has no mystical properties to it, however it does provide our bodies with excellent nutrition allowing for the human body to reach its full potential.

Enzymes

From Kim at Myafya

Eating a Raw Food Diet has a majority of remarkable health benefits. Not only is it one of the healthiest diets a human can consume, it’s good to our earth and its precious ecosystems. Choosing to Raw means you are choosing to eat what the Earth has provided us with.

When you consume uncooked, unprocessed Raw Food in its pure state you are benefiting from all of that particular food nutrients possible because of several factors. Raw Food contains things called “Enzymes”. These Enzymes are simply chemical reactions that help digest our food. When food is cooked above 116 degrees Fahrenheit these enzymes begin to break down.

When enzymes are exposed to heat their functions becomes impaired and eventually destroyed. When all enzymes are destroyed food becomes lifeless.

What happens to a body when it’s constantly being fed dead, lifeless food? Disorders begin to surface. The body cannot function to its full potential without enzyme-rich, nutrient-dense, live-food.

Enzymes are very important as they add in the digestion and absorption of your food enabling your body the chance to repair, build cells and defend against infections and viruses.

Eating raw reduces the amount of chemicals, toxins, and pollution to the Earth’s atmosphere, creatures, and soil.

You are choosing to eat Organic Raw food which means your one less person to promote animal cruelty by being Vegan, one less person to promote soil and air pollution.

When you choose Organic, Raw food you are removing yourself as chain in the “link” of societies bad habits. You are choosing a better future.

Live foods are plant-foods that have not been heated, cooked, processed, or refined in any way. Live foods (or raw foods) include uncooked, organic vegetables and fruits, raw nuts and seeds, and sprouted grains and seeds of all kinds (alfalfa, sunflower, lentil, etc).

Instead of being cooked, they are eaten whole or are merely chopped, diced, shredded, juiced, or blended. These foods are loaded with nutrients and healing properties and should ideally comprise about 70% if not 100% of your diet.

As regards quantities, it's important to note that every body has different needs and there are NO rules with this way of living - you must listen to your body and see how you feel.

The generally ideal percentages seem to be:
65% fruit (including tomato, cucumber avocado, red and yellow peppers, green beans - if it has seeds then technically, it's a fruit)
25% green leafy vegetables and root vegetables
10% nuts and seeds, oils, avocados

The nutritional ratios you want to aim for (again, feel what's best for YOUR body) but as a guideline

80% CARBS (Fruit and vegetables)
10% PROTEIN (Found within most fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds)
10% FATS (nuts, seeds, avocado, oils)

Ample protein can be found in most raw foods - it is a myth that protein comes only from meat and dairy.

But every individual is unique and you can see which ratio's suit you best. Be careful of having too many nuts and seeds in the transition phase as we try to satiate that addiction for the denseness of cooked food. You won't get the best benefits of fruit and vegetables if they are coated in fat. Nuts and oils are fats.

Most important is to try and source the freshest organically grown produce you can find, or better yet - grow your own. There is nothing quite like picking your own greens and eating them right away - the freshest most nutritious choice!

Live, raw foods have a high degree of life force or energy . Life force, also known as prana (in India ), or chi (in China ), is the most basic and primary nutrient on which our bodies thrive. The substances that increase our life force energy, include oxygen, sunlight, and live foods. You can actually see the life force energy of a particular food through a technology called Kirlian Photography. You can see from the pictures that a fresh, raw food has a large life force field, yet when cooked, the life force field is diminished.

It is also interesting to note that people who have degenerative health conditions have been shown, through this same method, to have small life force fields, and those who are healthy have much larger life force fields. Different cooking methods affect the life force field of foods dramatically differently. Fried foods, processed and sugar-laden foods, and red meat, for instance have little to no life force energy. Lightly steamed vegetables, legumes, or grains have a far greater vitality than deep fried foods or cooked meat.

Live foods, including uncooked, organic vegetables and fruits, and raw or sprouted seeds, nuts, grains, and grasses, have the highest life force energy of any foods.

Sprouted foods are particularly powerful, and are referred to as biogenic foods. They contain the secret of life itself, the germ, which contains the reproductive power of the plant. When seeds, nuts, and grains are sprouted, many of the nutrients are increased and they become easier to digest. When nuts and seeds are soaked and sprouted, digestive enzyme inhibitors contained in the nuts and seeds are destroyed, and the carbohydrates, fats and proteins become predigested into simple carbohydrates, free fatty acids, and free amino acids, allowing the body to absorb them more readily.

The more we include these high-energy foods in our diet, the more we enhance our own energy and health. If you want more energy, eat more live, raw foods.

Live foods have live enzymes which aid digestion when we eat them. If food is cooked, then these enzymes are de-activated and we have to draw on our own body's stores of enzymes to break down the food. The more we age and the more we eat processed, over-cooked foods, the more we deplete our enzyme reserves. Enzymes are essential for life (they are called often referred to as "the stuff of life"), and are integral in so many functions in our bodies from metabolism to fighting disease. The fewer enzymes we have, the quicker we age. So, by eating live, raw foods, we can actually start reversing this process.

Live (raw) foods contain loads of minerals, vitamins, and phyto-nutrients in their undestroyed state that boost immunity, increase energy, and help cleanse (detoxify) rather than clog the body, helping prevent diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Live foods enhance and maximize the electrical potential in cells and between cells, which gives cells the power to rid themselves of toxins and absorb nutrients and oxygen. Every time we eat over-cooked and processed foods, our immune system is stimulated to produce white blood cells, which stresses our immune system and eventually depletes it.

Live (raw) foods are alkalinizing to the body's fluids. This is important because acid build-up in the body from over-eating meat, sugar, and processed, refined carbohydrates suppresses the body's energy production and immunity. Keep in mind that cancer can only thrive in an acidic environment. And, acid leads to arterial clogging and heart disease. The more alkaline foods we eat, the better our health and energy, and the greater our resistance to disease.

Live (raw) foods are high in water content and fibre. Just think about it... Your body is 75% water. Your brain is 80% water. Doesn't it make sense that we would want to eat high water-content foods to feed our bodies the water it needs. Water is necessary for transporting nutrients into your cells, and toxins out of your cells. Water and fibre are essential for proper elimination of toxins from the body. Often when we experience hunger, we are really experiencing thirst. Eating high water content food helps to eliminate cravings and hunger. Water and fibre also help to stabilize blood sugar.

The Biocidic World – Can we Survive It?

(The following information is adapted from “The Chemistry of Youth”, by E.B. Szekely)

Man is a masterpiece of nature, created and perfected in nature’s laboratory through millions of years. Man’s whole being is conditioned to absorb pure, natural substances: air, water, foods, etc., and to be surrounded by a natural, unpolluted environment.

After the second world war, an accelerated flood of synthetic and toxic additives inundated our markets and supermarket chains, which soon became prolific in all products which the innocent and ignorant housewives carried home to deteriorate the health of their families. Instead of purity, freshness, and wholesomeness, the new post-war criteria for desirable food became taste, texture, and shelf-life.  The greediness of the food industry and the all-pervading sophisticated and deceiving promotion of television and radio have become an powerful menace of corruption to the public mind and body.

Over 5550 different synthetic chemicals, a total of a billion pounds a year in over 32,000 products, are foisted upon the innocent, uninformed, and misinformed consumer.

Whenever food manufacturers remove a natural substance from a food, they always replace it with a synthetic adulterant. Of course, this manipulation disturbs the whole natural biochemical balance in the food. Each time a synthetic is consumed, the biogenic and biological processes of the organism receive a shock to which they are desperately trying to adjust themselves, very often with little success. Each time, a precondition of disease is added to the already disturbed living processes, developed and perpetuated over millions of years. Their continuous, more and more aggressive disturbance proliferates a long line of chronic and degenerative ailments. Even in ordinary simple foods, a great number of synthetic, and often toxic additives are ingested. Just for an example:

  • Ice cream contains coal tar dye, diglycerides, monoglycerides, antibiotics, artificial flavors, carboxymethyl cellulose, artificial colors, etc.

  • Frozen apple pies contain nicotine, lindane, chlordane, lead arsenate, methoxybenzene, sodium-phenylphenate, malathion, etc.

  • Margarine has traces of monoisopropyl citrate, diglycerides, isopropyl citrate, monoglycerides, etc.

  • Breads contain coal tar dye, diglycerides, ditertiary buthyl paracresol, ammonium chloride, polyoxyethylene, and monoglycerides.

  • Pickled vegetables: sodium nitrate, aluminum sulphate.

  • Bottled fruit juices: saccharine, parathion, dimethyl polysiloxane, benzoic acid, etc.

  • In meats: stilbestol, dieldrin, aureomycin, methoxyclor, toxaphene, chlordane, heptachlor, benzene hexachloride, etc., etc.

  • Potatoes: all kinds of pesticides: ethylene dibromide, heptachlor, dieldrin, chlordane, etc.

We could go on and on the endless thousands of synthetic and toxic additives, but I think these few samples are enough. But the bottom line is simple: If we are to survive our toxic environment we have to stop now. We must go back to living foods from the Earthly Mother.  The best advice is this, strive for simplicity once again. Go back to simple, slow foods, home-prepared meals made from fresh, organic, homegrown ingredients wherever possible. Go back to living foods, find organically grown produce wherever you can and if you can't,  supplement the poor quality of  commercially grown vegetables and fruits available today with fresh sprouts, and learn to grow tender, fresh baby greens in shallow buckets and small containers. Learn how to make homemade sauerkraut or other fermented vegetables, and concentrate on unshelled nuts, seeds, whole grains and legumes. Biogenic, living foods are the logical answer to restoring healthy foods for the planet and the human organism.

   Natural Hygiene

Natural Hygiene is a set of principles to apply in one's life to achieve and maintain optimal well-being, vibrant energy, and freedom from illness. These principles are based upon meeting the body's inherent, natural needs: fresh, pure air; pure water; moderate sunshine; regular exercise; adequate rest and sleep;  a diet of whole, organically-grown foods - fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds eaten in their raw, natural state; eating foods in proper combinations for optimal digestion; fasting when ill; emotional poise; right livelihood, and; nurturing relationships.
